The Bakhaus and Griffis families will arrive the Sunday before the wedding and welcome anyone to come enjoy a full week in Steamboat. There will be outdoor activities everyday - hiking, fly fishing, floating, horseback riding, paddleboarding, hot spring-ing, and of course pickling.
Important note on where to stay:
The First Arrivers Fiesta (Thursday) and the Rehearsal Dinner/Welcome Party (Friday) are both Downtown. There is a free bus that runs regularly to and from the Ski Village and a hotel-provided shuttle service from The Steamboat Grand Hotel (located in the Ski Village), where we have a room block. Shuttles will be provided for the Wedding (Saturday) from both Downtown and The Steamboat Grand Hotel.

Steamboat bus to town is free and departs every 30 minutes from the bus station right next to the Steamboat Grand Hotel and stops every few blocks downtown. Ubers are intermittently available.

Hike to Fish Creek Falls

[option to jump in waterfall] This hike is moderate to high difficulty, roughly 4.5miles round trip, 1,457' elevation gain, hike from waterfalls at base (right next to parking lot for those who want to see falls but not hike) all the way up to the falls at the top. $5 parking fee that goes to the park system (try to carpool). WHAT TO BRING: High-ankle Hiking Boots (although regular tennis shoes will work fine), Water (high altitude!), Bathing Suit (for the brave willing to polar bear plunge up top), Snacks (if needed) Easier option is to drive up and just walk down to see the Lower Falls (very short walk). If you don't have a car, consider hiking Emerald Mountain in town (3.7mi 938' elevation gain).

Hike: Devil's Causeway
Head out on this 5.9-mile out-and-back trail near Yampa, Colorado. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 23 min to complete. At the top of this trail there is an amazing land bridge you can choose to cross or just admire! Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.
Hike: Zirkel Circle
Looking for a challenge? Enjoy this 10.7-mile loop trail near Clark, Colorado. Generally considered a challenging route that is 10.7 miles and 2,400ft of elevation gain. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Botanic Gardens
If you are staying Downtown, simply walk along the bike path down to the Botanic Gardens!
